Sunday – 28/02/2010, The Palestinian Center for Democracy and Conflict Resolution began the first activity of " Women for social peace " project within the popular campaign for national reconciliation with the presence of a number of the civil and political work activists .
The project coordinator assistant, Mrs. Karam Abu Mueileq , welcomed the attendees and made an introduction about the campaign , explaining the aim of this meeting and the project .
Gaza branch director , Mr. Eyad Abu Hujayer , stated that the aim of the campaign is repair the political conflict by making the citizens participate in popular initiatives in order to ask for their rights and to be aware of the importance of the national reconciliation . He explained the role of the center in reinforcing the social reconciliation by the activities and initiatives which the center organized to reinforce the culture of tolerance among the parts of the conflict . And he emphasized the role of the woman in the campaign and the reconciliation .
The project coordinator , Mr. Mohammed Shamalakh , explained the idea of the campaign and the different activities of the project as they will form a group of women leaders " 25 women ",a group of university girl students " 20 students ",a group of elders and village leaders and a group of volunteers .These groups will work together within a series of activities in order to raise the public awareness of the foundations and principles of the civil peace and to make the decision-makers adopt the principles of the social peace .
They will soon begin a training course about the concepts of the social peace and implement a number of workshops , public meetings and radio series .
Then they made a discussion and the women presented some suggestions and opinions that could enrich the campaign ; in addition to some questions Gaza branch director , Mr. Eyad Abu Hujayer and the project coordinator , Mr. Mohammed Shamalakh answered them .
